Winter Haiku

The great heron
travels through sifting snow -
long legs trail behind.

—+—

Amid the snowfall
glides a silhouetted crow;
no - a heron!

—+—

Hunched crow
sits on a high branch,
watching the snow fall.

—+—

a sudden rush of hail
drums on trees, streets and rooftops,
then passes.

—+—

the pale moon
still sits in the morning sky
watching snowdrops grow

—+—

Even the great conifers
withdraw from sharp winds,
swaying to and fro.
